'nimbus' by berndnaut smilde ' nimbus ' is a seemingly impossible sculptural installation developed for the online gallery probe by amsterdam-based artist berndnaut smilde . Beginning with the concept of a vacant or abandoned room and aspirations of enhancing this ominous environment, smilde introduced smoke, moisture and backlighting. the artist was able to create the entirely eerie and whimsical illusion of a cloud floating within the gallery space. Smilde treats the sculpture as representative of his appreciation of physical presence found within transitional space; the viewer may only experience this environmental sculpture for a moment before before it dissipates entirely.

Food Type is a project brought to us by Barcelona-based artist Nuria Bringué Bergua. The study of food as font is part of a collection of books on healthy eating. Nuria cut each letter out of their respective food group, and typeset the words without the help of Photoshop, to create the cover of each book.

1. Swimming Pool Balcony Architects have made a splash with a bold design for new towers in Mumbai featuring swimming pools enclosed in glass instead of balconies. Known as Aquaria Grande, the 37-story skyscrapers were the result of a collaboration between Hong Kong based architect, James Law, and Indian real estate company, Wadhwa Group. The complex will have 200 apartments, three levels of car parking, a gym and sauna.

They're still books – only a bit changed. All these books were transformed into visual art, but still they're books. American artist and mathematician with a strange name, Robert The, has made bizarre creations from books for many years. His art works are stored in many private collections and are exhibited in modern museums.

1. Ads Creative advertising campaign for Target stores features iconic weapons of The Avengers team of superheroes made out of toys, beverage cans, and other household objects. Similarly, Mjolnir is made out of Dr. Pepper cans, toys, a toaster, a radio, a dumbbell and a thermos. The representations of the rest of the cast are equally creative.

1. Pixelated Towel Cover yourself in edited-for-content pixelation with the self-censored bath towel. She's completely covered up and completely naked at the same time, so it's win-win for everybody involved. Sorry, but this is the sexiest bath towel ever. Nothing is more alluring than when you're presented with nudity that a censor has looked at and decided, "No, you can't have this nudity. This nudity will damage you."

Dolls hold a strange power of attraction over little girls. I suppose it is normal, but is it really if the attraction turns into an unhealthy obsession as they grow older? Some grown-up girls seem to be so infatuated with dolls that they want to look exactly like their plastic playmates. And a handful of them actually manage to achieve these looks. Here we have a story of five girls who have achieved huge fame on the internet by looking exactly like dolls. We’re not sure if it is because of makeup, Photoshop, plastic surgery, natural beauty, or a combination of all four. All we know is that looks don’t get a lot more doll-like than this. I don’t know if you could categorize these looks as innocent or plain creepy. But I’ll let you be the judge of that.

With the extensive use of Photoshop and other editing software, it’s extremely difficult to tell the difference between real and fake these days. But if the photographs of this Japanese model are to be believed, then she couldn’t be a day over 20. Believe it or not, Masako Mizutani’s real age is 43, and she’s a mother of two. Her age-defying looks have become a sensation in Japan, especially on TV. She’s being called ‘Japan’s Lady of Eternal Youth’. Now, I’ve always felt that Asians, especially the Japanese, have beautiful skin that doesn’t seem to age very much. Even so, Masako clearly stands out from the rest of her countrymen. In the pictures, her skin looks unbelievably soft, supple and practically flawless. During her TV appearances last month, Masako revealed a few of her beauty secrets to the world. She supposedly spends five hours a day just taking care of her skin. Her tips include: drinking plenty of water to flush out toxins, eating a fresh, healthy and balanced diet, usin...

Ancient 'Predator X' Sea Monster Gets Official Name A beast with "teeth that would have made a T. rex whimper" had been known only as "Predator X."

Colored sand, a great deal of patience and his bare hands are all Joe Mangrum needs to create his incredible sand pantings on the sidewalks of New York. Joe Mangrum was a painter for many years, but only started creating art with sand in the Fall of 2009. He chose to work with sand because it’s an ephemeral medium that can simply be swept away at the the end of the day, after he’s had a chance to express his talent and amaze passers-by. I never thought sprinkling colored sand through the bottom of your fist could lead to such amazing works of art, but Mangrum’s creations prove patience and talent are the basis of truly incredible things. The gifted street artist spends hours on end on his hands and knees sprinkling his colored sand onto the sidewalk to create ephemeral masterpieces that catch the eye of everyone around him.

I love splash photography, but this is the first time I’ve seen an artist using this technique to create unique flowers, some with their own liquid flower pots. The patient man behind this amazing art is Jack Long, a talented photographer who spends months planning and experimenting to create these stunning pieces. Armed with superhuman patience, a high-speed camera and lots of paint, Jack Long set out to create a series of beautiful images called ‘Vessels and Blooms’ in which he tried to create liquid flowers out of colored paint droplets captured in mid-air. The skilled photographer spent several months planning and testing different techniques in order to achieve the best results possible, and judging by his photos, I’d say his work paid off in the end.

This list looks at some of the most unique areas around the world. The list includes natural areas and those created by humans. They are listed in the order I found and researched them, and are by no means diminished by their order on the list.

According to Greek mythology, the sirens Charybdis and Scylla resided in the Sicilian Sea. Homer tells us that because Charybdis had stolen the oxen of Hercules, Zeus struck her with a thunderbolt and changed her into a whirlpool whose vortex swallowed up ships. 1. In the fascinating vortex water sculpture by artist William Pye entitled Charybdis, the circular movement of water inside a transparent acrylic cylinder forms an air-core vortex in the centre. Steps wrap around the cylinder and allow spectators to view the vortex from above. The cylinder was manufactured in Grand Junction, Colorado.
